Indoor U10’s continue winning ways
It has been a tremendous start to the season for Ovington representative sides as our Under 10’s Indoor team, that play on a Sunday afternoon, went into their game yesterday full of confidence.
Yesterday saw Ovo faced Copmanthorpe. Half-term and squad rotation meant several changes to previous sides. Batting first, Ovington amassed a net-score of 423, aided hugely by only the loss of three wickets and some explosive batting. Thomas Robinson got the team off to a good start with 25 from his 18 deliveries. Innings from Ethan Currie, Seb Hardy and Wilfred Allen continued the flow of runs in a positive direction. That was before the last pair of Bertie Mittram (36) and Jacob Baldwin (18) including hitting 33 from the final two overs, led to a final score of 423.
It was always going to be a difficult task chasing such a big score and with some great bowling from the Ovington side, made the task even more difficult. Wilfred Allen took 4-14 with Seb Hardy’s 3-11 taking the headlines. Thomas Robinson (2-6) kept things economical as well as Ovington finished as 106 run victors.
It means that Ovington remain top of the table after six games. They are chased in second place by Acomb, who are just two points behind. Ovington play New Earswick next week in what is the last game of the regular season. We will go into that game as slight favourites, but with half-term potentially affecting availability, our U10’s will need to be on form against the current third-placed side in the league.
Good luck!
